Day 18 of Free Write - Glasses Prompt

Ah a prompt that will be really easy for me to write on. So I had perfect vision my whole life when I was growing up. My dad, brother, and mom all had awful vision and required glasses or contacts. During my freshman/sophomore year of High School I hit my growth spurt and grew several inches. Well when that happened my vision completely went bad! I didn't realize that the two were connected until I went to the eye doctor and he mentioned that may be the reason for it.

Well as you can guess, when you used to be able to see and slowly start to be able to not see, its hard to be able to tell how bad it is getting. Yeah eventually I realized I couldn't see the board from the back of the classroom as well as I used to. Finally I caved to going to the eye doctor and got tested. A few weeks after my glasses finally arrived. I remember putting them on and going outside and being amazed at how clear everything was! It was like I had been living in the world non-hd and glasses were my new 4k HD TV lol!

Obviously I was so happy to be able to see again, but the funny thing is I wore glasses for about two years. During my senior year of High School when I started caring about "looks" more, I decided that I liked how I looked without glasses much more than with. So I went in and got contacts. It was so hard to put them in at first...but once I got the hang of it I never went back! I use my glasses for around the house still sometimes, but I NEVER wear my glasses out in public anymore.

My hands actually kind of hurt from how fast I typed all of that! I knew I had a lot to say and wanted to see if I could still manage to keep it within the time frame! Thank you for checking it out! Check the link below if you are interested in joining as well!

That really stinks when you go from great vision to a lower grade division. I on the other hand started at a young age with vision issues. As a young girl I had lazy eye and had to watch TV with a patch on. As I got older my vision improved somewhat, but once I hit the 46-year point again they started to decline. And now have even worse vision due to working on the computer for all these years. I tried contact lenses at one point seven years back but I have an aneurysm in my right eye which made it difficult. I tried unsuccessfully to use contacts and then begrudgingly went back to glasses. Nice job with the prompt!

I guess the bright side is that glasses work well for you to an extent! Thank you for your comment and reading!

Great freewrite. I couldn't get the contact lenses out at all so eventually opted for laser treatment.
Here's today's prompt

Thanks for taking the time to post about the new prompt!

I think I will get laser in the later future. Probably need to be a bit older first before I get it from what I've heard.

I'd certainly recommend it. It must be well over 15 years since I had mine done and my sight is still perfect.

Wow, I didn't know that there is a correlation between a growth spurt and bad eyesight. Interesting.

Yeah I had no idea until that point either!
