Day 10 of Free Write: Awakening Prompt
This made me really think of how it is like to get up every morning. Each morning is different and it all depends on the day and how the day was before it. I won't use how I woke up this morning as an example just quite yet, but bare with me. I have been enjoying my day today so far, I have been browsing Steemit while sitting with family and sipping on some warm tea. The whole thing that I am dreading of today is when it is over and I need to go to bed.
It is Sunday afternoon of course here in the United States, and the next day will bring work. Don't get me wrong, I love my job, but waking up in the morning on a Monday is far from fun. My routine before I go to bed tonight will be the same as always. I'll set several alarms on my phone, otherwise I won't wake up in the morning. Typically I have to set 7-8 alarms that I repeatedly snooze to wake me up actually. So when my head finally hits the pillow and I fade away into dreams...until the awakening.
My first awakening usually has my alarm ringing at 6:20am. My alarms are spaced out between 6:20 and 7:15am so they go off at all kinds of times. Eventually once all 8 alarms are popping up out of snooze the amount of times I'm being "woken" up is enough to actually wake me up this time. I'll lay in bed for a second...dreading the idea of getting up and getting ready. I'll go downstairs in the freezing cold to warm up a hazelnut blend of coffee and pour a bowl of sugary cereal. This is not the kind of awakening I am fond of.
Fast forward to the awakening of a Saturday or Sunday. I still have alarms set, but they are set for much later in the morning than they would be on a weekday. As soon as the first alarm sounds, my brain doesn't get filled with dread, it actually gets filled with excitement. I'm ready to start the day fresh and new and see what fun things I get to do for the day! It truly is such a better feeling knowing how I spend my day is my choice, and that is the best awakening anyone can ask for.
I went a little over my five minutes there, but don't worry I didn't go TOO much over. Check out the link below if you would like to join this fantastic challenge :).

Ugh, waking up on Monday is so hard! Even more so if you've had a 3+ day weekend. That's a lot of alarms, though! Good luck tomorrow!
It's the only way I can get up :). Thank you.
Loved this and it's so relatable! Also loved your writing style, well done :)

Boy can I relate. Especially when the kids go back to school.
I do know what you feel! I'm an "owl person": drowsy, grumpy, and slow in the morning, full of energy on the evening. My dream job would be from noon to 8 p.m.

Finding love in early morning awake times is hard, but the whining of a dog is an excellent motivator. I recommend you get yourself a dog with a small bladder.
