5-minute freewrite Day 710 prompt: dog whistles
I suppose there are many ways to call for a dog, but dog whistles seem to be a favorite. When I was just a child, we had a metal policeman-style whistle that we used to call our dog. It worked better than a lips whistle if she was not nearby. I remember the day my brother brought home the soundtrack for West Side Story. There is a place in the music where a police whistle is blown. Our Siamese cat growled when she heard it on the recording; she associated that whistle sound with the appearance of our dog, who she loathed. It sure made us all laugh!
Now I've only used up half my allotted time and my dog story is over. So I'll move on to more stories about that cat. She liked to be placed on the top of a door, and then have the door moved gently back and forth. Her eyes would get really big, and her whiskers stuck out, and she seemed like a child on an amusement park ride. We had open beam rafters in the living room of that house, with a horizontal 2x6 on either side of a vertical 2x6 (or maybe it was a 2x4. I don't remember for sure.) The cat liked to be placed up there and she would somehow get all comfy on 4" of wood with a 2" gap in the middle. She was goofy!

Two sweet stories!
Thank you!
I had a cat like that once. He loved to be placed on the highest thing I could put him on, and he would just watch us all for hours. I miss him.
I'm here to deliver the Tuesday prompt so please write us another!
