Garth's lips were dry. But it did not start out that way. It started with his throat going dry. Dry enough to cause some coughing. And make his voice sound uncertain. As time passed his mouth went dry and he kept moving his tongue around and licking his lips. Continually licking his lips brought him to the place where his lips were dry. And the dryer they became the more he licked his lips.

The coughing, the hoarse voice and the compulsive licking of his lips gave him a very nervous look. Some would say a guilty look. And yes, he was guilty. Very guilty. The thought of his guilt made him smile. He remembered the look on Mr Graham's face when he sat down on the whoopy cushion. The obscene sound broke the nervous silence in the room and the shock on Mrs Primrose's face was just as memorable.

Mrs Primrose was from the Department of Education and she was there to interview Mr Graham for a promotion. Mr Graham's embarrassment caused him to lose his temper. The things he threatened to do to the guilty party and the language he used disqualified him for any promotion. Mrs Primrose departed without a word, just a huff and a puff. It was a good result as Mr Graham was not a popular teacher and often too severe in the punishment he meted out for petty reasons to teens barely four years his junior.

But now Garth's lips were dry as he kept on flicking his tongue over them from a dry mouth. He's been waiting for nearly an hour now in front of the headmaster's office. He knew his punishment will be real.

The headmaster was Mr Graham's mom...
