Cursed To The High Heavens

Cursed to the High Heavens
Have the power of curses gone by the wayside? I haven’t heard anyone mention they put a curse on anyone lately.
In bygone days a curse was a common way to get revenge on someone. There were voodoo dolls to stick pins into and afflict pain on a rival. Witches had powers to defeat an enemy by mixing a magical potion or repeating certain words.
But are curses really effective? In order to make it so, the person being cursed needs to know about the curse. Mind over matter might just help work a curse.
A true story, that happened nearly 100 years ago, is part of the local folklore and happened not far from where I live on P.E.I.
John, a schoolteacher, and his bride settled into their new home at the corner of a nearby crossroads. They argued and fought constantly. After years of unhappiness, and his wife wishing him dead, John dropped dead. His wife, who sounded demented, cursed him to the high heavens for leaving her and cursed his relatives and everyone living in the same area.
Gradually something tragic happened to everyone in the houses that surrounded the late John and his evil wife. Neighbors died due to alcohol poisoning, insanity and accidents. Eventually there was no one living around the crossroad where they had lived. The houses either burned down or dilapidated due to neglect.
Unbelievable but the curse is still in effect. A woman near the area committed suicide a couple years ago.
The most recent tragedy - a revengeful gunman went into a house of one of John’s blood relatives and shot the father and his son who just happened to be visiting. That was the result of a curse upon a curse or cursed twice.
But that’s fodder for another story.

For years I thought I was cursed by my last girlfriend. And then I thought, a curse sent is a curse received, so why would anyone do such a thing? The answer of course is that love moves the heart in mysterious ways....
Hi Wales! Yes a curse is like a boomerang. Send one out and it will eventually come back and hit you in the head. 😊
Enjoy a !COFFEEA
Good Afternoon...!!!!!
(:
@redheadpei
I believe in order to be cursed..one has to believe in them. The mind is truly a very powerful thing...!!!
Hi Annie :) Yes, the mind is powerful and should ward off any curse.
😊....!!!!
:D
I think the backfire of curses had a lot to do with it my friend.
A short story if I may.
A farmer near a small town was a very successful and important man.
So well connected that he could even order the town mayor around.
It all was taken away from him when a severe drought hit the area.
Over the years of the drought he lost everything, most importantly his prestige.
So one day he walked out of the house, pointed his rifle at the sky and fired a shot cursing God and the high heavens.
A lightning bolt struck the man and he died on the spot.
This happened in a drought with clear skies.
How true the story is I don't know, but I know this, where there's smoke there's a fire.
Blessings!
Thanks for the story, Stephen. That is definitely a backfire curse. 😊 Blessings!
That was a powerful curse! Wow!
It sure was Melinda. It seemed that nothing but tragedy happened in the houses at those crossroads.
And is still happening!
Quite an interesting tale. I would not want be anywhere near that area. I think bad things just happen more than people notice and when you have a tale like that it becomes quite easy to blame it on that!
The only modern day curse I'm aware of these days is social media!
Haha @enjar. I think you are on to something about the curse of social media.
