A Maiden’s Dilemma

The prompt Leering makes me think of dirty old men eye-balling pretty young girls who are blossoming into womanhood. When I was at that stage of life, I can think back on leering improprieties done to me or my young girl friends.
In some cases it went beyond leering and a leg or rear may be grabbed. it was surprising the supposedly respectable men who pulled this on naive young girls who didn’t have the experience to handle the situation or were babysitting or working for the person. I’m sure young boys had similar leering incidents.
Instead of saying,
“Get your filthy hands off me or I’ll tell your wife!”
The young maidens I knew would not say anything but just try to keep out of the leering and grabbing man’s way.
What happened would be talked over with a close friend and warned about accepting a ride with that particular pervert.
Parents were not told as one was afraid they would be blamed or not believed. No one wanted to open that can of worms and maybe be grounded from activities or going certain places.

I’m sure most people enjoy a glance of admiration but a leer takes it to level of rudeness and smacks of only sexual interest that is unwanted by the desired one. If it is wanted than I don’t know what the leering look would be called.

With the dark web there are all sorts of atrocities against young people that needs to be stopped. 😡
A lot of attention has been on men in high places using their power to seduce young women and it has been going on since Neanderthal man grabbed a woman by the hair and pulled her into a cave.
Women are starting to take a stand and parents need to educate their children about certain unpleasant situations they could find themselves in.

I don’t think there is a woman who has not experienced this awkward situation at one time, either on a date, in the workplace or casually.
Yes, if it is wanted then I don't know what the leering look would be called either. I was assuming that the kind of behavior you talked about was a fairly recent one but it doesn't sound like it.
I mean, I know it has always been but I thought it would be rare back in the day.
It was back in the 60s and I don’t remember anyone getting charged like in today’s news.
