Freewrite day 116: Root Canal...
She sat there in the dentist chair, listening to him but not really taking the words in...
"You have to have this procedure done in two stages - I'll get started today if you are ok with that. Then you can come back."
Her hand slipped into the hand of the older, wiser person sitting next to her.
She asked - will it hurt?
"You will have something for the pain - it will be fine."
Other people had Root Canal Surgery - not her. She was invincible, she had never had anything wrong. She had never done anything bad to her body before but finally realized that all those days of eating lollies etc had added up.
The sweat built up. There was no way out. It had to be done.
I guess I have no choice.
The time had finally come.
She was not invincible anymore.
She turned to her mother sitting beside her - "I guess I should have listened when you told me to clean my teeth".
Her mother hugged her. "It'll be fine. If this is the worst lesson to learn from your younger years then you're doing alright!"

Haha - when i saw canal this came straight to mind. Dentists bring out the best and worst...
A root canal... Seriously? :) I always amazes me how we go to different places with the same prompt. This was such a refreshing story. Thank you for sharing it with us 💚
