Free Write Friday prompt Rodeo
This is my post for #freewrite prompt Rodeo by @mariannewest.
My first and only rodeo was in St Cloud Florida, I am guessing I was eight years old. It was fun to watch but I felt bad for the bulls that had people trying to ride them, I remember thinking that horses are ok to ride but bulls were not made to ride and that is why they are trying to throw the cowboy off. There is a rodeo in the town next to mine but I have never been to it, I guess it is just not my thing. My friends Son was a bull rider at this rodeo. He has won many trophies, now he is too old to ride.
It has been a rodeo of a baiting season. Neither of us had bait to fish today. Yesterday I picked up the ten traps that I had as test traps I had nine pigfish out of them. I had 25 traps to the north so I ran them this morning and got 170 bait. I had the ten with me and put them out, too. I left them an hour and ran again this time I got 135 which I added to my holder of 40 used bait. It felt good to finally find good bait. I was home by 2 o'clock.
My husband came home in a foul mood, which I can not blame him. He has been all over the river hunting for bait. I told him of the bait I had out of our friend's traps and told him I had thought I found good bait. He went north of our friend's traps and set his. He did not catch much so he picked them all up and moved further north and set them again, he said he caught 100 bait but got them out of four traps. He picked them up once again and moved further north but still no bait, so he went back where he had the 100 and threw them all out in that area.
Since I have enough bait I will fish tomorrow and my husband will run more traps. Please Lord let him have bait in them.
Sounds like a recursive rodeo. Need to catch bait before you can catch fish. And you need bait to catch bait. And so on.
@jacobtothe yes I agree, the fish house now sells crabs so I get the dead ones but before they had them we had to castnet a fish called a pogie to put in the crab traps to catch the crabs to put in the pig fish traps so we could use the pig fish to catch the trout.

I always loved fairs , horse racing , jumping or anything to do with horses/rodeos. Not any rodeos around my area but horse pulling which I don’t like as the owners expect the horse to pull too much.

@blacklux yes we found bait but it is strange mostly big bait not much small but it is bait so not complaining.
I LOVE reading about your quests for fish! And I don't care for rodeos much either. Never did. Not only do the animals appear to be unhappy, the events are boring. Sometimes the cowboys are cute.
