Day 744: 5 Minute Freewrite: Sunday - Prompt: knee
This is my post for #freewrite Sunday prompt knee hosted by @mariannewest
My husband did not get down on one knee and ask me to marry him. He has never asked me to marry. Our accountant told us he wanted us married by the end of the year. So in December, we got married, that was 33 years ago. We have been together for 37 years and neither of us had plans to ever marry so when I count our anniversary I take in all the years we have been together.
When we married my two sisters also got married, we had a triple wedding and we are the only ones that have lasted. The other two got asked if they would marry, the guys even got down on one knee. So if you want a marriage to last just do it, don't ask.
My husband and I went to the jewelry store and I picked out a ring, one that would not break the bank but pretty and I have never seen another one like it. It has ten little diamonds but you have to hold it right with the light to see them, I would not want any other ring, I think it is perfect. One day I was cleaning the clam raceways and dropped a big pipe on my ring finger, it smashed my ring and I could not get it off. My husband wrapped my finger with a rag and took pliers and bent my ring back to where it was sort of round and it was not squishing my finger. I took it to a jewelry store and they fixed it back to perfectly round. I have lost one of the little diamonds, but it does not matter to me, it is still beautiful.
No fishing today or tomorrow and I am not sure about the next day, this not catching much and no fishing at all is getting old. We need to start making some money. We are not broke but I would like to pay the bills without going into what we have saved for hard times, like in the spring. we are supposed to be making good money this time of year but we have not had any cold weather to push the fish our way. It is November and we still have temperatures in the eighties.
Cool post. :D I am glad that you got your ring fixed, and I hope that you get some good fishing days ahead. 37 Years.. wow. Mine lasted 21 years, and I didn't get on one one knee either.. it was more of an agreement too. LOL

I wished I could give you a much higher vote that your blogging could make you some money if the fish don't bite.
Funny, my husband and I didn't go through a big deal either. We just kind of did it. I don't think either one of us was really that crazy about getting married but it seemed like a good idea for various reasons. I like your ring. We thought about getting one made by a local artist but decided to go with the $ 10 ones from the marriage license place. Good thing. My husband lost his a few weeks after our wedding working in the garden. If it had been an expensive ring, we wouldn't have liked it LOL
@mariannewest we are doing ok, we had a good trout season and we put it back because we know there are going to be days like these. But I do thank you. we had been married before and neither of us wanted to go through it again but we needed the tax break that we got for being married. A ten-dollar ring or 500 dollar one would be the same to me, it is not about how much it cost it is the ring itself and what it means that I care about. Sorry your husband lost his.
