The Great Escape: Sausage Run

There is an annual sausage sizzle. A chance for everyone to sit around a campfire on a cold dark night. It is November 5th, Guy Fawkes night.

Guy Fawkes was possibly on to something, but that is another story. This story is about bonfires and fireworks. That means food.

Let's go back to November 4th, the beginning of this story. The sausages are lying quietly in a fridge. They are as still as you could get.

However, they have awoken.

“Oh no! It's November 4th. Tomorrow we will be barbecued. We don't want that.”

They need to escape, but they have no legs. They thought they hadn't anyway. But there is a wizard sausage amongst them.

“Believe, and you shall all have legs and arms. All the things you need to help you to run.”

With that, they make a dash for it. They try to make it to the back door. They manage to exit through the cat flap and find their way to safety.

They do pretty well. They last for 3 days, which means that November 5th has finished.

That is an achievement, so they decide to go to a park and have a few cold ones. They meet a very sad burger.

“Why are you so sad?” asked King Sausage.

“Because you escaped, they ate all the burgers.”

“I'm sorry to hear that,” replied King Sausage.

“Yes, and what is worse is that they're having burgers again next year too. Apparently, we taste nicer.”
