5 Minute Freewrite Task

Bath is a town in the South West of England. If you were to visit, you would be surrounded by fascinating 18th century georgian buildings. It is a very distinctive town.

There's just one problem. There has been three murders in three nights. There is no police involvement. All concerned must try to solve the problem themselves.

There is a committee meeting.

“Why don't we get the police involved?” asked one of the attendees, Freddie.

“They don't do cats, I'm afraid,” replied George. “However, we have a killer cat amongst us and he must be caught.”

“What do we do?”

“First of all, we need to wrap up this meeting,” said George. *Immediately.”

“How will that help us?” asked Freddie.

“Because we are in the middle of Bath Rugby stadium. There is a match tonight.”

The floodlights are starting to light up. The cat committee must reconvene at another venue.

“The train station, 15 minutes,” suggested Freddie.

“Yes,” said George. “Let's be there soon. On the platform.”

George makes his way to the station. He is met by the cat committee and Freddie. It is time for George to make his speech.

“My friends, we are experiencing dark days. Our friends have been murdered and we are looking for our killer cat. The police won't help us. They don't do cats. We need to solve the problem by ourselves. We all need to be detectives.”

A pause, all the cats look around to see a policeman walking towards them. He reaches them but he is disappointed when he arrives.

“Damn cat, he's gone,” said the policeman.

The rest of the cats notice that Freddie has run off; quickly.

“We do do cats,” said the policeman. “Freddie is a wanted cat. He was planning on pushing you onto an oncoming train.”

“Impossible,” said George. “He couldn't have done that by himself. Not all of us.”

“You are correct,” said the policeman. “He would have needed assistance.”

George addresses the cat committee.

“Who here is helping Freddie?”

The policeman stares at George. George gulps.

“You're coming with me, son.”

Meanwhile, Freddie managed to get to Bristol, a nearby city, but he has now been caught.

It is usual practice for suspects to go to trial before any conviction or punishment is carried out, but the courts don't do cats.

Therefore, it is the end.

You've got a thing for cats, huh? This was fun, I loved how they kept saying the police don't do cats. So matter-of-fact.
Good write-up.

Thank you @honeydue. Life has been busy the last 24 hours but all for good reason. Looks like I'll need to do a catch up.

I don't know why my cat characters are so psychotic. It just happens. :-)
