Freewrite 5 min prompt: Wire

The wire is a very important part of our life nowadays since it helps transfer electricity and telecommunication signals from one place to another. You can definitely argue that wireless media have been introduced which can replace wires but let me tell you there are always wires at the back of wireless media.

Now let’s move from these serious uses to some lighter ones!!

In our area, we use wires to place washed clothes in sun to get dry. Almost every third or fourth day, you will see a long list of things hanging from wires in the homes everytime you visit. When we were kids and would go to buy things, we would use to curve many wires to help us in our fight against street dog coming after us.

Now keeping the convention of writing childhood stories alive, I would tell you two stories. Our home was and still is on a narrow street and in front of our home, there was a long agriculture strip of one of our relatives. On the other side of the land, my friends would live. The owner of the land never allowed anyone to cross his land on the pretext that it could damage his crops. we used to cross the agriculture land secretly to play with each other. We could access each other through an alternative route but that would take more than 20 minutes to reach. One day, as soon as I was crossing the land along with one of my accomplices, there came the owner of the land. Then what? we showed him a clean pair of heels but he was quick too. He followed us till the very end. I somehow jumped out of the farm and disappeared but my accomplice who was younger than me stuck in the barbed wires. He fell down with his one foot stuck in the wires and the other foot in the farm. The owner being angry pull out a wire out of his farm and beat him up. I never dared to cross that farm again during the daytime.

Now let me tell you another sort of a funny story. We were performing some lab experiment in the school about the flow of current. The battery was connected with the apparatus but had naked wires. We were supposed not to touch the naked wires. The teacher sensed some problem in the apparatus and asked one of the students to touch the wire. By wire, the teacher meant to touch the insulated cable, but the student was not attentive so he touched the naked wire. Then what. He started jumping and it created a huge scene. Almost all the students and teachers started laughing. Though the voltage was not that high still he felt the shock of current flow.
