Freewrite 5 min prompt: Pen

The pen has been the main source for the transfer of knowledge over the centuries but when we were kids we would use it for another purpose as well. The purpose was a very awkward one and that was to use it as a weapon to hit the opponent whenever there is a fight going on.

One time two of my friends argued with each other and ultimately the arguments led to a physical fight. One of them hit the other one with the pen on the face and it started bleeding. This fight created a huge controversy and they both were struck off from the school.

Apart from that awkward use, I would also like to tell an interesting story related to pen on the academic side. When we just entered the university, we were very enthusiastic about the assignments and exams etc but that enthusiasm began to fade away towards the latter part of our academic career. When we were taking exams of the last semester, the motivation level had vanished completely. In the early semester we would take at least three pens along to attempt the test but in the last semester, the number of pens had reduced to one. One of our friend who was very casual about things entered the exam hall with one pen and started attempting the test. The total amount of time for the test to attempt was 2 hours but his pen stopped writing after 30 minutes. The teacher who was already angry at our casualness gave him pen neither allowed him to borrow from another student. The student had to wait at least for 30 minutes and this really made him angry. He ultimately started arguing with teachers and in the meantime, other students solved their tests easily with the help of cheating.
