Day 693: 5 Minute Freewrite: Thursday - Prompt: hat band
For @mariannewest in #freewrite
Sometimes lady Marianne comes up with topics that would have never crossed my mind without outside help. Like this one the hatband. I Googled it to make sure that what I understood by this term is indeed what it is. And yes, it was what I thought it was. A little band on the hat.
Thought of a hatband lead me to a cowboy hat, to cowboys, shoot out in the hotel Coral and then to a Beatles song “Rocky Raccoon”
I loved this song and still, love it. Especially I like these lines
Her name was Magill, and she called herself Lil, But everyone knew her as Nancy.
So the girl of Rocky’s fancy was a local prostitute. That is so touching and cute.
Now she and her man, who called himself Dan,
That is also a funny line as Dan was apparently some outlaw who hid his real name. Knowing this Rocky didn’t even flinch and decided to shoot off his legs. )))
But the most interesting line was at the end of the song that says:
Gideon checked out, and he left it, no doubt, to help with good Rocky's revival.
As if some guy by the name Gideon who lived in the room, currently occupied by reviving from the wound Rocky, left his bible in it. The real story of why Gideon’s bible is in every hotel you can read following this link Why are there Gideon bibles hotel rooms?
Anyhow, I guess that’s all I can say about a hatband. )))
Hat band.....a little band around a hat!
I love it!
You entertain me and the ramble of tangled thoughts ending in Gideon Bible....charming I think.
Thank you! I am glad you liked it.
