This prompt makes me think of the Biblical Flood
Genesis 7-19
And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered.
If you read the Bible attentively, you can even calculate the actual height to which the water level rose. I have somewhere this calculation. It rose to 28 cubits. Although we don't know which cubit the Bible is talking about as its length ranging from 18 to 21 inch. Taking its length as the later the water heigh was 21 in * 28 = 588 inches or 49 feet. Considering that the average floor height is 10 feet, the water level was as high as the 5th-floor building.
I read a book called the Bible as history and they pinned down the place of the flood. Was very interesting
