ROBES IN DIFFERENT STROKES
Robes comes in different kind and with different purpose. There are robes for academic events, religious status, personal use and even for weddings. It comes with different colors, cloth, design, sizes and style. Some have hoodies, some don't have. There are those used for fashion and some are for specific theme.
Whatever use you have for robes it simply means an outer garment meant to cover the inner ones but not specifically the undies but other clothing you wear. It's a garment that can either make you feel comfy or not. I don't use a robe at the house but I had worn a kind for academic event purposes.

Great point, I didn't even consider all of the other types of robes, outside of one to cover pajamas, when I saw the prompt.
