Board / Tavola - 5 Minute Freewrite Day 91 [ENG/ITA]

HODL!

The man in ragged clothes at the corner of the street held a wooden board with this word written incorrectly.
He watched the passersby in silence, making a strange smile to anyone who lingered intrigued even for a moment. The smile was a crooked slit in the bluish shade of his unshaven chin.
Every hundred people or two, someone approached with a handful of loose change, but could not find a hat or a glass where to put them, and the man didn't make a move, didn't reach out, answered only with his strange smile. So, the passerby ended up freezing in the middle of his gesture of distracted generosity, and remained embarrassed with his hand dangling in the air, with the few useless coins hidden in the palm.
A girl who was going to school stopped for a moment and looked the man in the eye:
"You wrote it wrong," she said with a little bookworm voice. "It's spelled H-O-L-D!"
Her mother tugged her away, frightened by that only verbal contact with an unpresentable.
The man smiled and relplied, barely audible from the little girl dragged far away:
"I know, it's okay."

[ITALIANO]

HODL!

"Lo so. Va bene così."
