STORY: CURIOSITY!! Day 227: 5 Minute Freewrite: Sunday - Prompt: bones

Children are often filled with curiosity. The idea of knowing whatever is going on or how something happens never leaves their mind.
Arthur and Irene are children of age 7 and 8 years old respectively. They lived in an ancient town that has existed for over two centuries, rich in history and culture passed down from generation to generation. The town is situated deep in a region, surrounded by mountains, which had served as a protection for them against outside enemies. It provides cover and helps to prepare ahead, as enemies can be seen from far away before they could approach the ancient town.
One of the traditions of the town amongst many others is the initiation of adolescent to adulthood, the initiation covers a kind of ritual and task to find bones in a cave. The cave is said to possess strange beasts and a son of the land strong and courageous must be able to go in and fetch a bone no matter how small it is from inside the cave, remnants of the weaker souls... It's either you come out as adults or you perish as weakling. The bones are a symbol of strength and victory.
Arthur's brother will be joining in the next year edition of the initiation, he is preparing for what's to come. His father takes time to teach him the act of swordsmanship, defense strategies and survival skill. He had pass this test many years ago. As he thought of it now, he remembers some of his mates who never made it back.
Arthur became more curious about this initiation, his father had told him not to worry that his time will come but he wanted to know what happens in the cave... He wasn't alone, his friend Irene shared the same thoughts.
One night, they sneaked out to find out what is in there with torches in their hands, they proceeded to the cave. When they got to entrance, Irene was having second thoughts about it now, he thought of how something bad could happened, but Arthur wasn't going to entertain such fear, he went in with his torch in hand, pointing it forward his only line of sight in the dark cave. Irene followed behind closely. They had walked only few distance when they noticed movement and pointed their torches in the area!! Suddenly both touches went off!! They screamed!!! As something sweeps them off their feets and the next minute they were outside the cave! Without any exchange of words, they ran!!! Oh! The ancestors had saved them from the beasts of the cave!!!
