Guilty!!! Learning to let go... very, very slowly.... but when they were younger... ohhh la la...
I say yes and no. It really depends where we are. Like in my hometown in Germany, kids can still move pretty freely - but when I was little, there were hardly any cars and with 6, I was babysitting my 3-year-old brother.
That wouldn't happen anymore.
Here in the US where I am right now, distances to get anywhere are too far for little kids to go on their own. And even the park which is in walking distance has dangerous street crossings and I wouldn't let my kids or grandkids go on their own..
