Three grapes - Freewrite

The supermarket floor was dirty and unkempt.

This store had been abandoned for about a month, ever since the outbreak.

There were shards of glass and dried pools of blood amidst overturned shopping carts and general debris.

More than anything else..... this place harbored a big empty feeling.

Empty shelves. Empty display cases. Empty refrigerators.

There was a time when all of the stores were being looted almost everyday.

It seemed like as long as you stocked up on supplies you might be OK. Just grab a month's worth of food and a month's worth of water and lock yourself up tight, away from the world. Let it all pass you by.

When you wake up in the morning maybe it'll all be better again.

That didn't happen though.

Instead one person after the other went through each of these stores searching for every food item available.

The virus ultimately killed every single one of those people. Now there was no one left to root around in here.

It didn't really matter anyway since there was no food left.

There were only display cases, dirty floors, empty registers, and hidden behind a metal door in the very back of the storage area.......... three grapes.
