Mason Jar - Freewrite
Boxing hadn't always been my passion.
In truth I used to pick a lot of fights..... but I usually lost.
I was a pretty scrawny kid but I could hit pretty hard.
The problem was that I wasn't very fast. I always got my butt kicked before I got any hits in.
Of course that was before I met Mason.

Mason was just a regular school kid. He dressed nice and always got all of the ladies phone numbers.
He walked around like he didn't have a care in the world.
He was kind of like a leaf floating from one place to the next but not really caring about any one place for very long at all.
I didn't know he was a boxer until that May when I saw him by accident in an exhibition that I happened to go to.
The following morning I waited for him because I knew he walked down a certain path to school.
"Wow man you can really fight." I told him.
"It's not about fighting. It's just really about living." he retorted.
Mason practiced all aspects of his life in the same way. To the fullest.
We started walking to school together and we became fast friends.
I started working out at the same gym that he used.
Even though he was my own age he became sort of like a coach to me.
I started fighting in tournaments myself and I started winning.
I wasn't fighting to prove anything anymore though. I was only fighting to live life to the fullest.
Before long I was more confident than I had been in a long time.
I stood taller, I dressed better, I hit harder, and I could actually dodge hits this time around.
I even managed to get myself a pretty girlfriend.
By the time I graduated high school I was really living the life I had always wanted to live.
I have to give props to Mason Jar.
I like to say he was the best friend, fighter, life liver, and all around cool guy that I ever met.

Life has its way to surprise you.you never know where a path is going to take you. You met this guy and he was you life changer.

I don't fight, but i love to watch boxing... So today i know that sometimes, this kinda life isn't so bad... It's helping an individual gain more confidence and LIVE! Thanks for this piece @jeezzle. Lesson well learnt! And your friend Mason Jar, he's a good man..

Awesome in boxing you create a strategy to beat each new opponent its just like chess.to me boxing is like a battle.Boxing is unnatural act instead of running from the pain...

Well written! Friendship is very precious and it's hard to find a good friend. Best friends always taught you many things about life, give you advice when there is ups and down in your life.
Friends are extremely important.
amazing post , like it life is like a boxing match defeat is declared not when you fall but when you refuse to stand again, boxing is not about killing each other,you me and nobody else is gonna hit as hard as life..
