Children - Freewrite
I was sitting on my couch minding my own business like I did every week night.
I lived in a small apartment complex which was very much like a motel.

Not a nice motel either but a real craphole.
We had people knocking on our doors all the time trying to sell us something.
Last month it was magazines, last week it was candy bars, the other day it was a gym subscription.
We were all used to it.
Now that I was retired I didn't really do much of anything.
My original plan was to get rich, get married, and retire in a nice house..... but none of that worked out.
So here I am in this rathole apartment complex.
My body is too old to work anymore from years of lifting over and over again. Construction does that to you.
All I really have is my TV.
Well, that and the kids that come door to door trying to sell us stuff.
I knew they would be coming soon because they always seem to come right around the same time during the week.
One of my favorite episodes of Star Trek was on. Just as the commercial began to play there was a knock on the door.
"Yes?"
"Hello Sir......... we are underprivileged kids that are trying to get off of drugs."
"Uh huh. What've you got then?"
"We have an exotic assortment of fruit that we are selling for a great price."
"Did you steal it?"
"What? No we didn't steal it."
"In that case I'm not interested."
"Ok. Ok. We stole it. It's from the market down the street. Man you ain't never gonna get a better deal than this right here. 10 bucks for the whole box."
Looks like I'll be eating fruit for the next week or so.

Very funny. I once lived in a trailer park. I did some couponing and gave a ton of drinks I got for almost free to a group of kids in that lived in the park when I moved. Like 50 assorted drinks. I found them an hour later at the entrance to the park selling them for $1. Kids who live in poor areas can be smart.
Hi @jeezzle. I thought your #freewrite was really vivid and filmic. I could see the scene unfold as I read it. Also lovely natural dialogue. Ever consider rewriting it into a short film script?
Well I write a lot and I would hardly say that this was one of my better pieces. There are a few pieces that I've actually considered making into a book though.

Thanks for sharing this short story, their are so many children who pushed in the world of drugs so that they can getvaddict to it and inturn they can influence others to attract towards drugs, so we have to prevent the lost of innocence of children and have to protect them from drugs through proper communication. Thanks for sharing.

Hahaha, funny how they admitted to stealing the fruits juice just to get you to buying it.
I'm still young and I've got same plans as you did have, make money, get married, raise beautiful kids and retire to enjoy my wealth. That's not too much to ask from nature I guess.
