5 Minute Freewrite Prompt : after midnight

The air was stuffy and there was absolutely no circulation at all although the library was huge and had high ceilings. This was the only section of the entire building that had restricted passage ways from behind the book shelves.

Ingrid had always wondered why this particular section of the library was different from the rest. From former historians and librarians before her, none could actually say for sure the exact reason. Many versions of sacred stories were shared about what was behind these passage ways. Mummies, ancient treasure maps, dead corpse; and many more were mentioned. Ingrid always thought it was just to scare little boys and girls so that they wouldn't wander this far off from the main halls of the library.

And yet, at this very moment, with the night being so late; almost midnight as she looked at her watch; she couldn't help but wonder if there was any truth in it. Holding the book in her hand, she felt the cold chill behind her neck again. As if someone or something had just walked passed her and her entire body was responding in defense.

The book in her hand turned icy cold right before her eyes and she dropped it onto the ground out of fear and shock. This isn't happening ! Not to her ! Gripping onto the base of the shelf, she closed her eyes and uttered the first words that came to her mind.
