The dentist is a demon. Metaphorically, of course. She doesn't mean to be. She thinks the "facts" she presents are true, but she hasn't look at the science behind those facts, and no one is questioning them. Dentistry is 1000 years behind the rest of medical practices, and those are 100 years behind the rest of technology. We should all be easily able to live near forever, but no one is doing the necessary looking into nanobots to maintain our bodies.

I often imagine I could take a pill that is full of nanobots programmed to know what my body SHOULD look like, and who can use the spare parts in my body (mostly fat, maybe take the bot-pill with a tums) to reconstruct my body (and build more of myself... I mean themselves) so that my body is always kept in prime condition. Maybe there would be problems. I'm sure there would be. Runaways. The first several dozen years of testing would happen just on people who were in near-death positions. But they would work, and they would get more and more reliable, and people would put them in their mouths and reconstruct teeth. Teeth. Teeth.
