Sea level? That’s so low. I mean, getting higher all the time, but still, very low. Rude. Think about it. The bar is so so low.

Thinking about the rudeness of others.

Listen, I know we shouldn’t let rudeness get in the way of usefulness. And mostly, I don’t. I try to let it go from strangers and whatnot, but when it’s the kind of rudeness that actually hurts others, like the exclusion of people from things that they should be invited into, well, that gets my goat. We need a society of closeness. I don’t care if people take their shoes off in a house or if they wash dishes… I mean, it’s nice if people wash dishes, but more importantly, are they making an effort to include others? Are they helping people feel like they belong. And I guess those things can matter to some folks, so let’s let them want it, and try to think of their needs, too. If you feel uncomfortable because someone isn’t washing dishes… it’s just an example.
