Lydia touched the soft pedals that belonged to roses perched by her grandma's front door.

"Smooth as silk." Her grandma always said. "But be careful of the thorns, they prick."

It was true she realized, about more things than just roses.

Take this afternoon for instance. She had gone into work just like any other day. Her coffee still warm in her hand as she sat down at her desk.

But as she looked up to her computer, there stuck to the screen was a post-it note that read...

"Now"

It caused a shudder. She knew what "now" meant. It meant that that debonair and beautiful Christina from Accounting had begun another one of her killing sprees. She had fallen in love with Christina just a few weeks earlier, and had found her to be not only brilliant and kind, but also smooth. She was smooth as silk, just like the roses, and Lydia didn't mind being swept off her feet until, after a series of events that we'll ignore because we're on the clock, story-telling time-wise, she found herself obligated to solve all of Christina's murder puzzles, lest she become the responsible party for Christina's murders. Again, I won't go into why she couldn't go to the police, but it's certainly not because there's not solution that can't have holes punched into it.

Oh crap, a baby is crying and a dog is barking and another dog is barking.

That must mean the beginning of the murder is afoot.

Damn. She left the very drafty cubicle she was in and found the whole office in an uproar. There was a missing ceo and a found finger.

She wasn't even remotely surprised, for she had seen The Finger, a very short film written by @stinawog and directed by @improv. Here, you can watch it, too.
