I drive around with my daddy in his big red pickup truck. He teaches me how to make an airplane out of paper when we stop for gas and lunch. We’re picking up people’s junk so that we can take it to the scrap metal place. My daddy gives them a very small amount of money, but he needs to keep costs low because gas costs money. He’s not paying himself much for the labor of picking up the metal, but it’s something. It keeps food on the table, daddy says, but I know they have a card that puts food on the table. Mommy says it’s called EBT. I guess they use the scrap metal money to keep the truck running. There’s no way, really to make money in this economy, daddy says, even though unemployment is at an all time low.
And the pet asking for food plus cash is left. Excellent freewrite @improv.
