You have so many toes, little one. Ten toes, total. Your father and I have merely seven. Between us. Guess which of us has four. And how they’re distributed. They aren’t where you think.

What is life like without worry? Why must must must?

What is luck? Who is lucky? How is luck? Do we really make our own luck? Can we take risks? I would gladly ask the baker for you to have another loaf of bread, even if it meant I had less, if it would mean between the two of us, we were more equal.

I would ask the same of those who have too much. Yes, too much. More than they know what to do with… or, they know what they want to do with it all, but they waste it.

They build things others cannot use. They decide how to use the resources of the world, and they do so

Inefficiently.

And that’s the greatest sin.

To move mountains when we need more mountains to stay where they are.

To dig ditches when we need even, open plains.

To throw food in the river where it cannot be eaten and it poisons the trout.

To burn, when you could have stayed at home.
