Bambi had too much bamboo. She felt FULL. Wait... Bambi was also referred to with a male pronoun... does it matter? The deer didn't care about pronouns, but she did care about satiation. And she was FULL. Almost too full. She'd never eaten this stuff before. She was a Pacific Northwest deer, who had mostly eaten Pacific Northwest native grasses and such. But ever since bamboo became a popular yard decorative item, she'd been eating a lot of it. She felt like a panda. She became a panda.

Her panda belly was empty, and she could no longer eat grass. Now she needed the bamboo, and now there wasn't enough. OH NO.

She was so hungry. So she mauled a mailman, and ate his ripe flesh. Then she turned into a cougar. Now there was plenty to eat. She found her father, who was still a deer, and ate him.

This story is a metaphor for the introduction of non-native species to the plant habitat, especially such aggressive, vigorous ones as bamboo.

Now you know why it is so important to consult a native species book before you plant anything. Also, beware of deer that can shape-shift. They are just dangerous. Not all shapeshifters are dangerous, but deer very much are.

Thank God I live in the city - no deer around. Or bamboo for that matter!

Oh boy, shape-shifting deer! That may explain how they get into fenced gardens. They turn into a snake!

Can't trust deer. Those adorable faces hide their true intentions!

:) I sure wish the deer here would get busy eating that bamboo in my yard! No, I'm not the one who planted it--came with the house.

Right?! Tut tut importers of non-native plants!
