That’s a trip. Candace was astonished at how much she hadn’t realized about her boyfriend. He was a piece and a half. He was always going on and on about where he’d travelled. He sounded like a real douchebag How hadn’t she realized that before?

She had long curly hair that she liked to bouncy with her hands. Bounce bounce bounce. It made her happy. She also had a precocious souvenir from her time with another boyfriend, a 4 year old with a mouth like a renaissance poet, all cummerbunds and chambermaids. It made her happy, too.

The only thing that didn’t make her happy anymore was hearing her boyfriend’s travel stories. Boy howdy.

She spent most of her evenings wondering what life would look like if she had dated her high school boyfriend all the way into marriage. Would a homespun life have been more fulfilling that a life of being at the edges of academic circles?
