The Empty Farmland

A paragon of contradictions, that's what you are to me. You say you’d stay to till the land and toil under the sun, while I’m at home rearing our son.

Now you run to the California sun, where you say the lights are brighter than our bleak land.

Something might as well be growing in that empty space… so I plucked the roots of your love in my heart, and buried them deep under the farmland.
