First time whipping cream 😜

in freewrite •  3 months ago

I have never been a girl who bakes. I admire those who can bake cakes and cookies well, but I have never thought of putting my hands on this skill. I cook, yes, simple stir-fry food, usually those dishes which are easy and fast to whip up, but baking cakes and cookies seem a daunting task to me.

Last July 2018, my husband and I decided to bake a cake from home for our son's birthday. We found out this cake from our cousin's wife, when she baked it for our great grandmother's birthday.

One word. Fantabulous!

She told me it was a 2-ingredient cake; Chipsmore cookie and whipped cream. Easy peasy! The only thing was whipping the cream.

Our first attempt looked great on the outside but failed on the inside. The cake turned out to be mushy soft ice-cream due to the cream not whipped enough (if I described it correctly, lol!)

So, after that, I had decided to master the skill of whipping cream. I searched Google and watched some videos before I started whipping. Oh, please don't laugh at me. I know this is a basic skill, a piece of cake for bakers out there. Yet I failed.

"Do not give up!" - My life's philosophy.

I tried the second time. This time I decided to use my own muscle-hand to whip it instead of a mixer.

I wasn't sure how peak and how fluffy it should be, as I was not a pro at whipping cream. One advice I found out was to flip it upside down and if it stayed there, it was perfect. So, I make sure I whipped the cream till that state. Patience is virtue.

And then, I layered up the cookies and the whipped cream, put it into fridge for 24 hours, excited on the results of the cake.

The next day, tada, my yummylicious icebox cake was a success! Yay! Now, I think I am good at whipping the cream.

I was satisfied with the result! Whipping cream, I did it!

Haha. Really huge. Sekaligus make alot!

I make my own homemade whipped cream... and sometimes I take heavy whipping cream and make homemade butter- NOTHING like them!

·

Add some garlic and parsley and you have fresh garlic butter!

·
·

OMGosh! And chives or dill too!!

I made some milk kefir cream cheese earlier this year and added some chives to it- SOOO good!

·
·
·

Have you tried garlic chives? Awesome stuff too.

·
·
·
·

You two are so pro at this. I only know how to eat. Yo! Lol!

·
·
·
·
·

It comes with years of practice! Just keep doing it! Soon you will be an expert...

·

YES our kitchen staff did that too and my husband said the result was fantastic! I meant the making of butter out of heavy cream!!

·

How do you make your own whipped cream? I bought those boxes one, heavy cream and whipped it. Do you mean we can actually make our own heavy cream? Oh please teach me. The box of heavy cream is not cheap.

Oh yes, my husband's staff turned some of the heavy cream into butter too. What a new knowledge for me.

wow, I have tried once and failed miserably, and decided this wasn't my thing, . was afraid to whip it with muscles without a machine..well maybe I should give a try again.Thank you for inspiring..

·

For whatever reason, whip it with muscle seems easier to me as I could feel it. You can try and who knows it will be a success. Like mine. Thank you so much for dropping by:)

·
·

I would definitely give it a try this weekend and see how it comes out..

The it cake looks really good, are you also good at making cakes? :)

·

Thank you. No, I am not good at all in making cakes. Not at all. Zero! I know how to eat only. Hehe

·
·

Huahaha.. Lol

Yay! Good job persevering! That final result looks YUMMY!!

·

Yes. Really persevering. Almost gave up coz I am lazy to bake or pick up new skills. Once in a blue moon..

OMG! dear friend that looks incredibly tasty :P I will try it soon!

·

Try it as it is so easy to make :)

Wonderful and loving as always!

Nice work. And that looks so extremely delicious... :0)

·

It is delicious. But rather fattening. Lol:)

Great job, it looks very yummy 😋

·

It is yummy but can't eat too often. Fat! 😛

So let me get this straight; cookies layed with whipped cream and put in the freezer overnight? That's it??!!

I hate baking but Brian loves to eat baked goods haha and he loves ice cream! So this I can do :)

Thanks @iamjadeline :)

·

Yes. Layer cookies and whipped cream.

Start with cookies first. Then whipped cream. I did 3 layers of each. Really easy.

Yes it does taste a little like buttery ice cream.

Yay now you are a pro at it!!! :) That was a delicious cake, even at your first attempt!

·

You are so kind. I did not like the 1st one, so geli. Too soft. Haha

It still looks yummy. Just practice. Doing it by hand like you did does take a while for it to start to thicken. If you do have a hand mixer with a whisk attachment...not so long. I'm back to by hand, my son borrowed my hand mixer and it has yet to make it back home.

·

Sounds like you are a Baker. I admire you. It is not easy to bake. Stir fry is easier. That's because I am lazy, I admit. Haha

·
·

Not really. My husband can bake. I can accessorize LOL, adding berries or whip cream and such. I prefer making meals.

Respect!! whipping cream by hand is not easy!!

·

That explains why I have big upper arm. And broad shoulder. Lol

hahahahaah congratularions!!

It wasnt that bad eh?? your whipped cream looks delicious from here..

we all learn from scratch. I am not a culinary expert myself. I have had my numerous epic fail recipes on cookies, cakes and brownies!!!

what is important is you have given it a try and somehow it turned out good.. i mean yummy! hahaha

I hope this isnt the end of your baking career! We could always request our steemitmama baker @thekitchenfairy to do one of those step by step video baking tutorials!!!

·

It is delicious. But not so healthy for some, perhaps.

Oh yes @thekitchenfairy is fantastic with her cooking and baking. Wonder does she have any magic wand to turn me into one too. Hehe

·
·

i bet she does have one.. and a tutu skirt and wings too... she wouldnt be a fairy without it all hahahaha..yeah maybe she can whip us up with something.

yes whipped cream are never healthy.. but they taste so delicious!! hehe

·
·
·
·

wait!!!!!!! can i just eat you right now?? you're freaking temptatious in your chocolatey cuppy outfit!!!!

Woweeee that looks soooo good!!! I was contemplating on whether to bake something soon and here you are with a simple recipe!! I hope I can try this, do you have the measurements @iamjadeline?

·

No measurement. Just buy 1 litre heavy cream, whipped the cream. Then layer on a some container. Start with biscuits 1st. Use chipsmore with hazelnut nicer with the nutty crunchy bite.

Follow by layer of cream. 1/3

Then layer chips. Followed by whipped cream.

I did 3 layers cookies 3 layer cream.
