A Smiling House is a Good Medicine

It was a busy day at work. Husband had had his bouts of challenges dealing with all sorts of customers. Not to mention he also had to train and coach different types of workers. At the end of the day, he just wanted to be at a place where his heart, body and soul can be at ease and rest. Would he choose to go home? Or would he choose to go to pub for a drink all by himself? That depends whether does he has a home - one that brings joy and ease to him once he makes his 1st step. And that, we call a smiling house.

I am not sure about everyone else, but for my house, whether it smiles or cries, I play a very important role in it. Mainly because I am the main director in the house. When my husband is out to work, the ups and downs of the house will be dependent on me. For example, if my children are extremely out of control and full of nuisance, whether to steer them with meaningful words or with hurtful scolding, all depends on me. Therefore, whether the house is smiling or crying, the state is in my hand to control. I have all the say.

This makes me realise how important I am in building the house aka my family together with my spouse. With God's help, I want to be wholesome and powerful so that when things get messy, I still have the capacity to clean them up with good composure. There were times I was exhausted and I became messy too. I did not beat myself up, I forgave myself and vowed to improve. Nothing should stop me from pursuing the better me so that everytime when my husband finishes his work, he longs to reach the one and only - smiling house. Smiling Family.

He should come home to a place where people greet everyone nicely with a warm smile or warm hugs. He should come home to a place to rest and wind-down instead of being bombarded by questions after questions. He should come home to see everyone is still in a good pieces and that he comes home to a lovely wife, not green hulk. So as I write this, it serves as a reminder for me to strive for a smiling house - one that is a good medicine to heart, body, soul and mind.
