Freewrite 111 - I dream of Unity
Dreams.
Dreams. Dreams are pretty crazy. I think that really we are living in a dream, and our dreams are just dreams within dreams.
Dreams replace our reality - they are so real that we do not realise we are dreaming. We take the experience that surrounds us as our ultimate reality. That's why dreams can sometimes be totally terrifying - because we have forgotten it is just a dream.
Life itself can also be just as terrifying - again - this happens when we have forgotten that it too is just a dream - an illusion, and that in the end... everything will be alright, because we will return to a place where there is no terror or fear or monsters. We will return to that place of complete bliss and oneness - referred to in the past as Nirvana.
But we can learn to become lucid in our dreams - to recognise when we are dreaming and to take control of these fantasy worlds. Lucid dreaming interests me because we spend a lot of our lives sleeping - we could be making good use of this dream time.
When you do something in a dream, for example juggling, the neural-pathways that are built and deepend in your brain the more you practice still form if you juggle in your dreams. In fact - it has been proven that these neural pathways actually form and deepen EVEN FASTER than if you were practicing the same activity in normal life. So if you become lucid in your dream and practice juggling, 5 minutes of juggling in your dream could be the equivalent of 5 HOURS of juggling in 'real' life.
What is 'real’ life? This is just a label. A definition. Is it really real? It's as real as it feels but in the end everything dissolves and fades away... Everything is impermanent - Nothing stays the same. That's the same with our dreams -
My dreams for my own life and future have changed considerably and are always morphing and adapting and being modified and evolved. What I wanted when I was a kid is not the same now. When I was a teen I thought I wanted to just grow old with a loved one and have a family... but now I realise my dreams are so much bigger than that.
"I dream of unity.
Of you and me walking free in a world of peace…
And I dream of minorities treated equally,
And equality echoing through the sanctuaries of our reality,
Where the birds and bees are seen as integral parts of the universal family tree."

The question is one I always ask myself. Is this a dream? Am I a figment of my own imagination?
Maybe I only exist as part of some giant video game played by Gods.
Yes who really knows for sure??! My hunch is that yes... this is all a creation of our own imagination... and in a sense we are in a video game being played by Gods... the only distinction I would make is that I believe we are the Gods ;)
Thank you so much for reading this and letting me know your thoughts. It's really nice to start getting some more interactive and engaging comments here :)
Really glad to have come across you yesterday and look forward to reading more on your blog :)

This is marvelously refreshing in the midst of much too much frantic chasing of dreams. Real dreaming precedes all and constitutes free living. It's something that I try to intersperse in my posts, too, but I discover it is not much grasped by non-dreamers!
Ha yes it's so important! Everything begins as a thought (a dream)... before it ever comes into physical form... so just gotta keep on dreaming big and living large :)
Thank you for reading and leaving such an insightful comment... it means a lot to me <3
Hope to see more of you around here :) and I look forward to checking out your blog too!

Lucid dreaming is AWESOME. I write often in my dreams... maybe that's why I didn't feel out of practice when I finally started writing again in real life? Great topic for the freewrite. I'm glad you brought it up. I've heard of lucid dreaming before, in the realm of being bale to change things in dreams (I sometimes will pause/rewind and change things before hitting 'play' again in a dream to change a nightmare and that's the only kind of lucid dreaming I'd known about before.
Thanks for sharing,
I’m also helping out with prompt delivery today! If you want, here is today’s #freewrite prompt
@byn
Wow that's amazing... I've only ever had 3 truly lucid dreams where I realized I was dreaming and didn't wake up and then proceeded to do whatever I wanted... it was one of the most incredible feelings ever! What an amazing thought though... Maybe next time I lucid dream I will start a freewrite and see what comes out !!!
Thank you so much for reading and dropping such an interesting comment... if you want to learn more about how to lucid dream there are lots of resources out there... I'm away from home now so I can't remember the main book that I was learning from, but there's particular methods that can get you going... the first is to start writing a dream diary and record every dream you can remember each morning when you wake! In this way, you can begin to spot common things in your dreams that may trigger you to realise you are dreaming next time you notice them in a dream.
For example... Maybe you notice actually in your dreams you keep seeing a white elephant. Next time you see a white elephant, it could trigger you to go "Hey... IM DREAMING!!!"
I hope you keep writing in your dreams.. that's such a cool concept... no wonder you are so good! ;)
Thanks again for being here, reading, commenting and supporting... It means a lot to me!
