It's GO TIME! November Madness Begins

in #freewrite5 years ago

I just got home from trick or treating with my son here on the 31st in the USA. But some of our fellow NaNoWriMo writers are already well into the first day of madness. So it's time to get this thing rolling!

Getting down to business

Here is the final list of participants:

@amelin
@botefarm
@felt.buzz
@grow23
@improv
@kaelci
@kaerpediem
@linnyplant
@mariannewest
@ntowl
@stinawog
@carolkean
@byn
@kipswolfe
@bennettitalia
@aislingcronin
@nonsowrites

We added one more in the last few days for a total of 17! I'm so thrilled to be writing this year with this group of people. I've tried doing this alone, and it's hard. But we're all in this together, and @felt.buzz is rounding us up some fans. We can cheer, push, pull, drag, cajole, or draw a line in the proverbial sand to help each other get it done.

Some important bits

You probably all know by now there is STEEM or SBI Shares for those who reach 50,000 words (thanks to @mariannewest and @felt.buzz).

But there's also a total of 3 SBI shares up for grabs each week.

  • 1 for highest word count.
  • 1 for most consecutive days written (random draw if there's a tie).
  • And a random draw for everyone that posted a word count at least one day during the previous week.

If you want to be considered for the weekly prizes you'll need to post your word count to a Google form. It's painless, I promise.

There are three questions:

  1. Your steemit name
  2. Your daily word count
  3. And an optional place to list word counts for days you missed posting to the form

It should take you less than 10 seconds to fill out if you know your word count. Since the prizes are based on daily numbers, please be sure to only enter the CURRENT day's word count in question #2 (use the space provided in #3 to account for days in the past).

Here is how the weeks will be divided for prize purposes. I'll do my best to post the winners the day after the week ends (so on the 8th for the first week).

  • Week 1: 1-7
  • Week 2: 8-14
  • Week 3: 15-21
  • Week 4: 22-28

But wait, aren't there 30 days in November?

Yes, yes there are.

So for the final two days I'll do a random draw for 3 SBI shares to anyone who posts a word count for either or both of those days. This makes a total of 15 SBI shares available to win for participating in the November Madness weekly draws! (that last bit was said in a big announcer voice with the appropriate musical accompaniment).

So what you'll need is the form to enter your information. Here's the link:

It will be pinned in the NaNoWriMo section of our Discord as well but be sure to bookmark it to make it easy to enter your word count each day.

If you have any questions put them in the comments below and tag @ntowl or you can ask in the Discord channel.

Now let's do this!

Phew, now that I've got through Day 1 it's not so bad
Though I kept checking initially and would have only progressed 100 words or so...
So I managed 2350 words... fingers crossed I keep this up and my story makes sense hahaha

Don't worry whether your story makes sense -- this is all about getting the ideas out of your head and onto the page. It's all about word count -- you can massage and edit your story later to make all the sense you want. :)

Thank you @kipswolfe
I needed that
Day 2 and I am like stuck
2 hours to go, will get to it...have another thousand words to go

On your marks, get set, write...... ✍️

Hallelujah somebody.

Oh my goodness, the fear! 😱 But I am excited too.

I think @princegazardiel wants to do it, too, but his keyboard is dead.

Can he use the phone and dictate? post via Partiko?

Dictate, that's an idea! I think he got the computer fixed. Hope he jumps back on in time to do the nanowrimo!
