5 Minute Freewrite Challenge Day 146 Monkey

I am in SE Asia now, so I do read and see stories about monkeys now – those in forests who attack people, or those in preserves because they were found sick or injured. Monkeys and other wildlife are often in the news here.

When I was in California, I rarely heard of monkeys at all. But if I did it was in a context like you see in my thumbnail photo – some type of creature made to dress up and do tricks. I am not in favor of this.

I really never thought of this at all until I went to a circus for the first time in my life in middle age. My son @bxlphabet was young, and the company I worked for had free tickets to see the circus when it came to town so I took advantage of the offer.

I spent much of the time in horror – seeing animals made to do tricks and dressed up like people. Both my son and I were very sad after seeing that and neither of us would go again.
