The scent of tangerines! A weekend freewrite
Dear friends
This is the weekend freewrite challenge. I am using @mariannewest’s #weekendfreewrite to write this piece please read here. Continuing with Mary's life, after entering the community garden, many memories surfaced. Then, I hope you enjoy my fiction story.
The scent of tangerines
Her mother knew what she could do. The first time she...
walked through that garden, her mind wandered thinking about the things she had achieved so far.
All her struggle to get a good job had paid off, now just a few hours to start the conference to make her sacrifice worthwhile.
When she lived at her mother's house, in her home in her childhood they spent a lot of need, after a fierce dictatorship was established in her country, her father a good man but with revolutionary ideas had to hide from the police for fear of being arrested.
There were too many compromises to be made. He even had to change his name and hated that.
At home, this situation had saddened them since their parents finally had to separate, their father had to emigrate outside the country, they did not see him again since soon after he died victim of an aggressive cancer.
Her mother, in view of all these inconveniences, had to work to clean the family's houses to move forward. She for her part, remembered at that time all the sacrifices she had to make to complete the studies.
The moment of the first job and the joy she could give her mother when she invited her to a restaurant for dinner at the end of the year.
There, in that garden, the memories kept flowing in her memory. A magical atmosphere besides
the scent of tangerines
the surrounding air flooded, which made her memories have a special charm.
This encouraged her to look at the future she had from that moment with optimism, knowing that the promises her mother had made to her in the past and all the struggles they had faced were being widely rewarded.
Feeling hungry, she left the garden and hurried to the hotel restaurant, it was time for dinner.
The end.
