Chapter 1: The Document (5 Minute Freewrite Prompt)

Hello everyone!

So as you can see this is not the usual Freewrite that only takes 5 Minutes to accomplish. Although this is informal, I don't know any way to reach her so on this post I am asking the consent of Ms. @mariannewest to allow me to use her freewrite prompt for each day and the tag #freewrite on my posts.

I have always wanted to write a novel that's why that is what I am planning to do with the prompts as the main topic of each chapter. I am an amateur on this field but would love to try it out.

Below is my first take on using the prompt as part of the story. I hope you all like it.

I am also open to any comments or suggestions that will enhance more my writing skills.

Note: All of the chapter prompts will not be edited so expect grammar and spelling errors. The suggestion I am asking is about flow of the story, scene, dialogues, etc. In short, creative suggestions and comments please.

Chapter 1: The Document

One of the worst things you could experience is when you loss an important document. And Karen is expriencing that right now. It feels weird working in a logistic firm when you are a graduate in the field of science, specifically, BS Pharmacy. But what can she do? She needs a job that pays well and near her home. This logistics firms was the only company in her area that can provide above minimum wage for a girl straight out of college and don't have any experience. She has no choice but to grab the offered position as a liason officer even though she has no clue at first what is her job description.

Well, there goes my good day, she thought to herself while dreading what will her Boss will tell her. Of course, her Boss, who is a devil in heels, will shout and scream at her and tell her she should not have accepted the job in the first place; just like how she always say to Karen when she is making minor mistakes. Now, Karen doesn't know what her Boss will say but she is so sure that it will be awful.

Karen went out of her cubicle and straight to Madame Goodman's, her boss, office. She was about to open the door when she heard talking inside the office of Madame Goodman. She heard a deep manly voice talking so that means a man was inside her office. It is barely audible but Karen can figure some sentence out. They were talking about documents and... the door opened suddenly making Karen stumble forward to the office of her boss.

She looked at Madam Goodman in horror but the latter didn't seem bothered or even frowning at her. Her boss looks weirdly happy and enjoying herself.

"Yes dear, what can I do for you?" Madam Goodman asked Karen.

"Ah... I'm just... Uhm... I have something... to tell -"

"Dear, can you talk faster please? Jasper and I have so many things to talk about and you're interupting us."

"It's alright Madam Goodman, we can talk another time."

I looked up and found my eyes locking on his smoldering stare. He is looking at me with golden brown eyes. He has ash brown hair, a face of a dark angel who is dangerously handsome, perfect nose and lips, a masculine physique just like a Calvin Klein model and overall looks like a god that came to life. I can also get a whiff of his manly perfume that smells like heaven and I was loss in his beautiful eyes that I wasn't able to hear what Madame Goodman said.

My boss cleared her throat and he released me from his smoldering stare.

"Hello? Karen are you there?"

Karen looked back at Madame Goodman and saw her curious eyes and arch eyebrows with a frown on her face. Before Karen could speak, the handsome man began to talk in a manly voice that peculiarly sounds music to Karen's ears.

"I should be going now Madame and I hope the documents will soon be accomplished."

"Of course Jasper," Madame Goodman responded with a bright smile.

"I will see you around, and I hope I will meet you again," Jasper said with a hint of smile on his lips. Karen catch him looking at her when he said those words but she wasn't sure because it happened fast.

With this, Jasper walked out of Madame Goodman's office passing beside Karen. His arm slightly brushed Karen's shoulder which sent welcome chills on her body. Karen did not move for a second more. When she looked up, she saw her boss staring crudely at her. The same boss she has known for years with the same hawk face she has always carried.

"What do you want Karen? And tell me straight because I don't have time for your blurbs or whatever."

Karen took a deep breath and said it out loud.
"I think I misplaced Franklin Inc.'s Minutes of the Grand Auction Ball Meeting."

This was the times Karen wishes the Earth will swallow her whole right there and then. Her boss lifted a finger pointing at the door and with a eerie calmness she said, "Go to Franklin Inc. right now and ask for another copy of that Minutes. Do not come back unless you have the copy understand?"

"Ye- yes Ma'am."

Karen hurriedly went out of her office straight to her grey cubicle and out the building in no time.

This is gonna be a long day, she thought.
