ENTRY 17

'YOU CAN DO IT!', the little girl screams from below.
'REACH OUT, REACH OUT', the little boy screams from below.

My legs are dangling. Oh man are they dangling. My arms are sore, OH BOY ARE THEY SORE.

But little Suzzy, she's watching. She's even encouraging me!

'Do it you big BABY!', little Suzzy screams from below.

Oh no... she thinks I'm a baby! I should've seen this coming.. I should've seen this coming.

[ten minutes earlier]

'It's almost recess Jimmy. I think I'm going to do it. I BELIEVE I can do it'.

'No you can't Derrick, you definitely can't.'

[2 minutes earlier]

He did it.... what's that word mum and dad use to exclaim annoyance? Shit? I don't know. I guess it's my turn

[Present moment]

Well here I am. I really have some mouth on me don't I. I really thought I could beat Derrick. I need to match him. He's my best friend, but.. he's also my enemy. What would you call that? A frenemy?

FOCUS Daniel. You can do this. Just one arm in front of the other.

Quick question before I go though. Why do they call them monkey bars? I mean I'm not a monkey. Derrick isn't a monkey. I must ask Ms Caroline when I get back to class. She'd be able to tell me. She is the smartest woman in the world I think. Me though? I'm not very smart for thinking I could conquer these monkey bars.
