FreeWrite prompt: prototype, Quantum Thrills part 3

in #freewrite6 years ago (edited)

Kotoe was set for an incredible feat. She could feel the tension in the air and Hideyoshi was poised for her to spin the T-totop. Both of them underdogs, they exceeded all expectation by far. It took him 38 minutes to make it to her but the top was still spinning away for over twice as long which meant that she was set to earn a huge bonus and have her name catapulted to higher ranks. The shock and the disbelief at the result Hideyoshi brought with him was absolute.

Sitting alone in her gorgeous penthouse, she was anxious over what this event meant for her career let alone the fact that success from that night had been completely erased. She was replaying the game again and again in her mind, how the wooden prototype seemed to be gliding between obstacles on the screens inside the room.

Dark thoughts were going through her mind, thoughts she would rather not have. From her childhood up to this point, this world of thrills gave meaning to her life and there was no going back. She was wondering if she couldn’t become a courier herself to keep this world she could no longer live without close by. It wasn’t very realistic, she was by no means athletic but the computer had been known to choose couriers of many physical levels and give them runs according to that level. “What am I thinking”, she said to her pink wig which was nagging at her from across the room. “Who am I kidding, the computer gave its verdict, I can be a spinner no more.” To face the bullying on social media from people who presumed to understand the computer’s decision was a Pandora's box all on its own. We shall see, she thought to herself watching a romantic comedy she had watched about a million times.

I wrote it in two 5 minutes bouts because I felt like developing Kotoe’s character a bit more. During the first bout the internet was not working and for the secon I used The most dangerous writting app which doesn’t allow you to stop and has a 5 minute timer. @marcoriccardi introduced me to this deadly app which does wonders for this challenge.

I put a 15 minute timer to make the illustration but I just had to double that time as well.
It was made with the Tatsui Sketches Pro app and the Apple Pencil. The watercolor tool is what makes the elements blend together.

I also made these gif using Forge of Neon for the graphics.

I like it!
The most dangerous writing app sounds interesting too? It forces your fingers to keep going, or...? I usually set my phone, but have a hard time stopping when it goes off.

You know, in the freewrite, you can just use the time restriction as inspiration.

Yes, I pretty much do.
