For the howl , I don’t need the moon,
just some light that blinds me.
For the red thoughts, one invocation,
more of tone than of word.
For the smile to be devoured,
a silent scream.

Then, something comes out
that tears apart my weary heart
only to later regret
its own birth
and bury the remains
in the darkest shadows.

The beast doesn’t forget
but it avoids remembrance
because guilt brings a mirror
for a twisted visage
sheltered in the excuse
of inebriated shadows.
