RE: Day 22: 5 Minute Freewrite - Prompt: itching

Thanks for highlighting the plagiarism problem and my posts relation to it! My biggest concern (which is not Steemit's) is copyright infringement which is illegal, whereas plagiarism is not. Just giving credit to a photographer removes the plagiarism problem, but not the copyright infringement one. Copyright infringement can cost someone thousands of dollars. On Steemit, people are simply trusted to do the right thing, as no one is policing content. What people need to remember is that Steemit is searchable on the web, so if they are infringing on copyright, they will be found out sooner or later. I simply want to educate people, so that they don't get into big legal trouble!

I thank you for that. I usually use my own pictures because of that - not because they are so great :) It is sometimes hard to know if you are breaking a rule or not..... I am hoping that you will educate us more and more on this. and maybe the steemcleaners as well...

It's refreshing to see your original photography with posts. Steeemcleaners have no power to do anything about copyright infringement. It is up to the the authors to decide whether to take the risk or not. The problem is, Steemit would be legally responsible too because they do not follow the guidelines (like making it clear that copyright infringement is not tolerated and also educating users about it) that sites have to follow to be deemed "Safe harbors" - and that means it would cost ALL of us should there be a big lawsuit. A Safe Harbor has some protection from lawsuits under the law. That's a problem Steemit and all of us may have to face one day. At the moment copyright infringement is rife on Steemit. It would just need one of the large stock agencies to swoop down and, well.........................
