Stinging nettles, itching, my childhood in Scotland. Where are the dock leaves? Not much relief from the itching. Calamine lotion!
Midgies (little Scottish gnats, itching, walking outdoors in Scotland. Keep your mouth closed. Don't swallow them! Calamine lotion!
Poison ivy, itching, my children's childhood in Canada. Blisters, crying children. I empathize. Calamine lotion!
Mosquito bites, itching adulthood North America. Calamine lotion? No! After- bite with ammonia!
Shingles on my face, itching burning pain I can't describe. Itching pain, burning itch. Which? I don't know! Calamine lotion? No - nothing helps! All from a childhood bout with chickenpox that produced only one spot – my chicken pock, I said.
The five minutes freewriting time is up, and I ITCH!

i know this plant when i was at school teachers used to bit us with its as punishment. .. its not just itchy its hurt too omg how can i forget this plant 😮
Ouch! Teachers used that as a punishment? That's awful. I fell into a whole patch of it once.
yap right alot of time it's for us nightmare sometimes they dip this leaf in water then hit it on our bear hands 😨😨 i can't tell you how much painfull that can be
I know all about the itch and the pain of stinging nettles. I have fallen headfirst into a whole clump of them more times than i can count. LOL!
hahah how come you fallen down on it then must be rashes on all body
Yes, it was awful. We played outside, and they grew everywhere. It was easy to trip and fall when we were running around playing the way we did in those days!
hahha hope you never ever gonna fall down again
That is terrible!! It probably makes you hate this plant - and it is such a healing plant. Full of nutrition! A favorite in taes, smoothies, soups and salads when the leaves are young (they don't sting anymore tha minute they are covered in oil or cooked or chopped superfine....). What a terrible teacher!!!!!
yap you right here also most of people used to eat its because it's full of nutrition but personally i just hate it from my childhood 😅😅
Totally understandable and still sad. So many kids get lifelong negatives from crazy teachers. I feel so sad for all the children being subject of abuse - your younger self included.
yap that's right but its happened everywhere
I am starting to itch Just from reading lol
Oh no! Completely freewrite today. Just words in a jumble. LOL!
Lol was all good

@dmcamera I did the same with poison ivy. Was 5yrs old running with sister and friends at beach in dunes.I fell face first in it. Then rolled over on my back just with bathing suit on. You can quess the rest.
You poor thing. It happened to my youngest son too. He was just a toddler. I remember those blisters as if it all happened yesterday!
I love stinging nettles. We pick young tips in the spring and eat them lightly steamed. I dry them for tea, supposed to make your hair stay dark. I guess I didn't consume enough. LOL. I also have made spanokopita with nettles. I love nettles in soup too. The First Nations people would purposefully rub them on their skin to stimulate blood flow and treat arthritis in the joints. Powerful medicine in this plant. Nice photo too. :)
You are right, it is a good medicinal plant too! Some people actually don't have a reaction to them, so I imagine they would do OK with rubbing them on their skin!
They embrace the reaction. I think it's not seen as a negative but a positive. The body out of a comfort zone.
Ha! Nice work! Your freewrite/ helpful guide started as a great commercial for calamine lotion. Poor dmcamera! I hope that you didn't itch for too long after writing this.
Haha! Sounded like an ad maybe! Thanks for reading and commenting!
You poor thing!! Shingles are so painful!!!
