OUCH! (...toothache)

So I said to my friend Frederick, "You are wrong. Everything is black and white. Right or wrong. You're just trying to re-arrange things to fit your version of things."
"Have you ever had a toothache?" he said.
"What does that ...?"
"Come on, have you ever had a tooth hurt so much that it kept you awake at nite?"
"Yes, A few years ago," I muttered feebly, not wanting to relive the pain.
"And that's bad, right?"
"Of course," i said.
"So what do you do?"
"I went to the dentist and he fixed it," I said taking a long swig of my Arrogant Bastard Ale.
"He fixed it," he stated, repeating me. " Root canal, then a crown?"
"Yes," he said. "If I'd waited any longer, the damn thing might have needed to be pulled out."
"So, if you'd had waited until later, it might have had to be taken out?"
"Yes!" I said. "That's what I just said."
"So, why did you go to the dentist?"
"Because of the pain, damnit. What's that got to do with anything? It was right that it was fixed," I said indignantly.
"But because of the bad, evil pain, you went to the dentist when you did. And if you had waited, if you did not have any pain, the tooth would have had to have been extracted. So the evil pain was good. Right?"
I took a longer sip of my Bastard Ale and sat back in my seat.
