Mementos of a Friendship

At full speed he made his way down to the airport. His loyal car snaked dangerously among the other vehicles. He had only 20 minutes to reach his destination, to give the most wonderful girl of all his life a strong and loving embrace once more.

He arrived and desperately searched for her through the giant terminal until they met each other. They knew that would not be a long goodbye, it would be a see you later. They loved each other, not as a couple, but as friends. Both had influenced a beneficial change in the other, they supported and motivated one another to be better with every new dawn.

He gave her a series of presents in a small package. Letters to console her when she needed it, a flash drive with music they loved and movies they both enjoyed, the best photos they had together and, finally, his trusty portable bluetooth speaker to cheer up every second of every day she was in Paris.

That little package also contained another gift, not tangible, but more valuable by its very nature. Fragments of his soul to accompany her at all times, to grow with her and to support her in any way possible.

Both would continue to be present in each other's lives, even if the vast Atlantic separated them. They would meet again, they knew it, they felt it, for their friendship had transmuted the very fiber that weaves the universe.

More than free-write, this time I decided to tell you how it was the last time I saw my best friend (there are more details, but I rant out of time). She left Venezuela and went to conquer the city of lights, the glorious Paris. I miss her in every breath I take, but I know that we will meet again in Europe, to share and forge memories that transcend time once more.
