Part 2 - I can't help but laugh as I continue to feed the invisible fish that someone else wants to have for his dinner.

.
Somehow managing to stumble, crawl and then drag himself back to his underground shelter, Michael now sat in his familiar chair staring at the blank wall. He knew that he was in trouble, never in his life had he felt the need for other humans like he did now, and he could feel himself sliding into the empty blackness of insanity. How had he lived the past five years with no contact, he had survived this long without even the warmth of a pet, not even a stuffed animal of some kind. But it was these very thoughts that led him to his answer, he had simply sat right where he was now and imagined that wall as a large aquarium with only one fish swimming around in it. There were no submerged castles, no rocks, nothing to add to or take away from his one silent friend swimming around and around in circles just like all of those idiots in the outside world. It was his reminder of why he didn't need them, it was his one solace to sit and lecture to this imaginary creature about the futility of life swimming circles in an aquarium. It suddenly occurred to him, " I can't help but laugh as I continue to feed the invisible fish that someone else wants to have for his dinner." and with that, Michael burst into uproarious laughter!

There they all were, the entire world just swimming around and around waiting to be eaten, well not him, no sir he was not a fish and he never would be. Resignation set in then, he would venture out a little every day and begin foraging for food and supplies. If he was the last person alive in the world then so-be-it! He remembered when he was a kid that someone had said that the meek would inherit the earth, perhaps that saying had been true. Had he, in reality, inherited the entire world and with it immortality? Yes, he would venture out again tomorrow and do a more detailed survey. For now, he could relax, looking again at the wall he noted that the aquarium was empty and he smiled to himself.

**Disclaimer: I often use the freewrite prompt to tell a story instead of doing a pure freewrite, so they sometimes take longer than 5 minutes and usually have some editing. But I try to do my story straight through at one sitting without any unnecessary breaks.
