Day 25: 5 Minute Freewrite - Prompt: bubbling

The two Paramedics knelt beside the body trying to avoid the meatballs scattered around the kitchen floor. No choice with the spaghetti noodles which had spread out under and around the pallid figure before them. The man was dead, that was a certainty, what had them puzzled and was now causing the confused looks that was passing between them was the fizzing, bubbling, foamy, froth spewing up and out of the man's mouth through permanently clinched teeth and lips that were stretched into a strange grimace. Neither Margaret Styles nor Joe Proctor had ever seen anything quite like it.

They were waiting for the Coroner while Mrs. Stephono stood on the other side of the table sobbing head down. They each were trying to look busy, a pencil marking random numbers on a pad in Margaret's hands and Joe fiddling around in a small medical kit. Finally the grieving woman pulled herself together for a moment and solved the riddle that this first responder medical team was dying to know but didn't want to ask. I put the last plate of Spaghetti in front of him like always she said, my Herman was a big eater she said. But then he started babbling and mumbling something. "I can't believe I ate the whole thing." What, I asked? "I CAN"T BELIEVE I ATE THE WHOLE THING," he says. So I put two Alka Seltzers in his mouth and gave him a glass of water. Sob, sob sob, that was the last thing he ever said... "I can't believe I ate the whole thing."
