Night Tale - Chapter 3
Many years ago, my plane hit the Alps in a very dense fog. I had to make an emergency landing.
When landing, I almost broke my plane and heavily damaged the left wing. Leaving the plane, I went in search of human settlement.
Delving into the fog, I came across a village, very strange village.
Its inhabitants weren’t at all like the Bavarians. Their clothes, their homes, their language. Dialect, which they spoke, I understood less than a third.
But not only this was unclear.
In some way modern civilization skipped this place.
There was no electricity in the village. And hearing the word " paraffin " residents twisted their heads in surprise.
Their clothes, their houses, their tools, all belonged not to the last decade of the nineteenth century, but to some unthinkable gray-haired ancient times.
Honestly, I saw a man who made a fire with the help of two flints. And several men were walking with real swords on their belts. They led me to the blacksmith who forged these swords.
The smith was a giant, overgrown with black hair and a beard. In his hands he held a huge hammer, covered with a mysterious pattern.
His appearance was savage, but he didn’t frighten me. He had real eyes.
It so happened that I understood him better than others.
"Who are you?" he asked. "Was bist Du?"
"A hunter. Der Jager."
"Hunter, I’m a master. Der Meister. Blacksmith Vulnar the Black."
"My name is Rudolph. Rudolf Wolfbane."
Hearing my name, the blacksmith laughed.
"Wolfbane! Fluch der Wolfen! Your name means Wolf's Curse! And do you know what my hammer's name is?"
He shook the hammer under my nose.
"The Hammer of Fate! On it are carved the runes of fate. They brought you to me, Rudolph the Wolves Killer. The gods sent you here!"
I asked him why the gods sent me to this village.
He replied that I need to kill his twin brother – Vulnar the White. The master of the Wild Hunt.
