Big Brother is watching!

We live in a world of digital survellaince and it seems everywhere we go now we are being watched. As soon you walk out the door if you look you can see cameras watching (and listening!) your every move - big brother is really watching! Although the cameras are there for a good reason - to keep people safe, I sometimes wonder if they are collecting more and more data on us for different reasons. The top reason would be for marketing/sales purposes - learning more about our pruchasing and buying behavior. This is big business these days!

Although the problem of being watched in public is nessasary, it is what online companies are collecting about us that really concerns me. Altough it is bad there is things we can do to protect ourselves. The biggest culprits are the biggest companies (funny that...), such as Facebook, Twitter, Instragram and Google. Facebook has been accused many times of secretly recording people messages, and acccesing their camera and using this for marketing purposes. I dont use Facebook much these days but I have started to wonder how they know so much about me - its becoming a bit freaky!! Where possible I try and stop using these sites (and using decentralised sites like Steemit, where there is no advertising and no incentive to record our data). However sites like Google are still very useful but I be careful what information i give them.
