The Old Vs The New : Day 307 : 5 Minute Freewrite

When I was young I used to think that a bulb never burns out, I thought it's an eternal thing like the sun, till when the first bulb blew up in front of me, oh my, that set a whole lot of thought in motion in my head.
We bought another and that last till I could remember, but as times goes on bulb easily pack up at home, no bulb will ever last up to six months now, the phenomena is everywhere, most things that were done in or produced in the early 60's to 90's tends to last long than the ones produced in the millennia period.
Not only bulb, appliances in general easily pack up with few glitches, just a power surge and the whole circuit is fried, something that an ordinary 1992 radioset can take in and won't feel will surely blow up a plasma TV, things are getting smaller and fragile. Becoming a once and for all spoilt garbage, eg: iPhone.
The idea behind this making of substandard goods is what am yet to find out, is it due to scarcity of the materials used in making them or there is a law somewhere to make us keep buying from them by making cheap and substandard good. It keeps the cash flow for them I get.
But that doesn't explain some product though, iPhone is standard but can't easily get repaired like a year 2000 Nokia 3310, though the iPhone is stronger but when spoilt cost a fortune to repair and can't easily be dissemble and assembled like the Nokia.
Lots and lots is going on in the world right now, and I think there is a hidden trend somewhere in the hands of the mighty capitalist coperation directing consumers want.
I think a certain amount of obsolescence is probably needed to keep us coming back, but I'm on year two of my iPhone and I really don't see the need to replace it. I haven't had a screen die yet, knocking on wood.
